HS All American Split Series with Ontario U18 Men

BOULDER, Colo. - The U.S. Boys' High School All-American Rugby Team wrapped up its summer assembly with a two-match series against the Ontario Under-18s over the holiday weekend. On July 3, the U.S. lost a nail-biter, falling to Ontario 27-26. The High School All-American Team rebounded well, however, and dominated the Canadian side 46-27, just two days later, on July 5.

IRB Approve 10 year International Schedule

The International Rugby Board Council said a new global 10-year playing schedule approved yesterday, where northern hemisphere unions tour southern hemisphere unions on a rotational basis, will provide a more attractive and equitable commercial model for world rugby.

From 2012, most years within the schedule will involve a two or three Test series against only one visiting nation in June, with midweek matches also set to be incorporated into the touring side’s itinerary at the agreement of the respective unions.

Second Season Breakthrough on Tap for Blues?

The Ontario Blues go into their second season with a distinct sense of determination after last years’ Bronze Medal finish in the Americas Rugby Championship.

The Blues lost a nail-biter to BC Bears in Victoria in a game that featured no small amount of controversy before upsetting a heavily-favored US Selects in the Bronze game 27-24; but clearly that was not enough to satisfy the senior mens provincial team.

“No one wants to play for third” said Blues head coach Les Gilson “we were of course happy to beat the US, but this year and every year, we are playing to win.”...

Tigers Show their Stripes

The Trenton Tigers scored early, then displayed some tenacious defence to defeat Oshawa Eastdale Collegiate 5-0 in a rough-and-tumble championship final at the second annual McDougall Insurance and Financial Charger Invitational senior boys rugby tournament Thursday at the M.A. Sills Park complex.

Brett Hall scored an unconverted try for Trenton in the first half as the Tigers defended their 2009 title. Last year, in an all-Bay of Quinte final,?Trenton beat the host Centennial Chargers.
